► SELLER'S DESCRIPTION
Up for sale is a rare vintage Seiko RC-4000 men’s digital computer data watch, produced exclusively for the Japan Domestic Market (JDM) in the 1980s. This pioneering model is part of Seiko’s innovative RC (computer data) series and represents an early experiment in wearable computing technology, making it one of Seiko’s most unique and collectible digital watches. I believe the watch is fully working; however, I do not have the original instruction manual and the operation of this model is not straightforward or intuitive like a standard digital watch. All buttons appear to engage the module and successfully cycle through various modes, but because of the complexity of the watch and my unfamiliarity with its full operation, it is possible that certain functions, such as sound or other features I am not aware of, may not be operating correctly. The buyer should be fully aware of this uncertainty prior to purchase. All parts of the watch are original, including the Seiko-signed stainless steel bracelet and clasp. The watch shows signs of use and age consistent with a vintage piece but remains in good physical condition overall. Photos best describe its physical condition and should be reviewed carefully. ► ARCHIVE FILE: SEIKO — BRAND HISTORY

Seiko begins with Kintaro Hattori, who opened a shop selling and repairing clocks in Tokyo's Ginza district in 1881, at the age of twenty-one. He founded the Seikosha factory in 1892 to manufacture wall clocks, built Japan's first wristwatch, the Laurel, in 1913, and put the Seiko name on a dial for the first time in 1924. By mid-century his successors ran one of the most vertically integrated watch companies on earth, making everything from hairsprings to cases under its own roof.
